Reducing Rejection

Blueline is committed to continuous improvement. Over the last few years we have secured additional linen supply amidst a global linen shortage and invested heavily in plant and equipment upgrades to provide our customers with the best possible quality and service.

Whilst we aim to maintain the highest standard of linen, there are times when for any number of reasons cleaned product has a stain or a mark. Currently, customers will generally throw the rejected linen in with the rest of the dirty linen and return it to us. This can often lead to linen being rewashed without the opportunity to understand the root cause of the issue, or without the linen being removed from wash cycle.

We want to avoid customers needing to reject unused linen at all. Rejected linen means:

-          A customer has had to double or triple handle linen resulting in additional time and frustration

-          Linen has redundantly been delivered and returned by our drivers

-          Linen is rewashed multiple times

Whilst we are happy to apply credits where marked or stained linen has been provided, this is not a win for anyone and an area we want to continue to improve and reduce.

Over the coming weeks, Blueline will be distributing REJECT LINEN bags to selected customers, but will also be available upon request. This is another important step in helping us to provide you with the highest quality of linen each and every time.

Separating rejected linen into these bags helps us to:

Verify the issue and confer with customers to ensure quality standards are met

Manage the stained or marked linen directly and appropriately

Determine a potential root cause and eliminate any possible replication

Improve overall customer satisfaction and experience

We need your help

-          Place any unused stained or marked linen into the Reject linen bag

-          If you can, send us an email or record of the type/quantity for us to reference

Either way, our drivers will tag the bag at pick up. Our QA team will assess the linen back on the laundry floor. Where there is any uncertainty, we will seek clarification with you to ensure that we all have the same commitment to product specification.

It’s a simple change that we understand adds an additional process in the short term, but one in which we hope can help to eliminate far more frustrating and time consuming issues in the future.
